Adriatic Sea

    Adriatic Sea stretches from the northwest to the southeast between the Apennine and Balkan peninsulas for 783 km, its average width being 170 km. Its average depth is 252 meters: northwestern part is shallow, maximum 23 meters in the Bay of Trieste and much deeper in the south 1200 m in the South Adriatic basin. Major rivers joining the Adriatic are the Reno, Po, Adige, Brenta, Piave, Soča, Neretva. The Adriatic Sea is situated largely between the eastern coast of Italy and Croatia.
The west shore is generally low, merging, in the northwest, into the marshes and lagoons on either hand of the protruding delta of the river Po, the sediment of which has pushed forward the coastline for several miles within historic times—Adria is now some distance from the shore.

How to come

    When arriving in Croatia by car it is requested that you carry a valid driver's license, car registration card and your Green Card, proof of car insurance. Speed limit in settlements is 50 km/h and 80 km/h in out of settlements, unless stated differently. On highways a speed limit is 130 km/h. Bridge and tunnel tolls -
You have to pay tolls also on these roads: Ostrovica-Kupjak, Ucka Tunnel and Krk Bridge.

Croatia terrain

    Croatia terrain is diverse, containing the lowland, lakes and hilly parts in the continental north and northeast (Central Croatia and Slavonia, part of the Pannonian area).  Most of this area is being used for farming and livestock breading. Wooded mountains in Lika and Gorski Kotar, part of the Dinaric Alps, it is the hilly and mountainous area, which separates Pannonian Croatia from its coastal part.

Croatia climate

    Croatia is a Central European and Mediterranean country. Croatia climate varies from Mediterranean along the Adriatic coast to continental inland. The coastal areas have hot, dry summers and rainy winters yet the inland areas are cold in winter and warm in summer.  The high coastal mountains help to shield the coast from cold northerly winds in the winter. Sea temperatures never fall below 10 degrees in the winter and in August it can be as high as 26 degrees.

Area of Croatia is 56,542 km2, with an additional 31,067 km2 of territorial waters. Population in Croatia is 4.5 million. Croatian coast has length of 5,835 km - including 4,058 km of island, islet and reef coastline. There is 1,185 islands in Croatia. The largest islands are Krk and Cres. There are 67 inhabited islands.
