Nature Park Medvednica - Nature Park Medvednica is a mountain situated just north of Zagreb it is also a part of the city. It is a unique example of an almost fully preserved natural environment encompassed within a large city. The Medvednica mountain massif is covered by dense forest of beech, oak, chestnut and is the most favorite excursions destination for the citizens of Zagreb and their guests.
The mountain is covered by numerous paths and trails, the more leisurely fitted with benches and educational elements, while the more demanding are designed for mountain walkers and mountaineers. For those most given to leisure there is a funicular which starts from the city and goes to the very top of the mountain.

One of the most popular places on Medvednica is the ruins of the medieval town of Medvedgrad, located on an elevation in dense forest. Nature Park hides other attractions as well: ravines, caves, waterfalls, old mine shafts, picturesque churches. Most people visit its peak, Sljeme dominated by TV rebroadcast tower.

Located around the summit is a number of mountain lodges where hikers, and excursionists can rest and restore their energy with popular specialties. Still preserved at the foot of the mountain, in the part which belongs to the nature park, are several traditional style villages, while those outside the park have merged with the city of Zagreb.

In a winter there is a ski sports center on the northern slopes towards Sljeme. The center has hosted women's World Cup slalom races, and men's World Cup slalom race.
