Plitvice Lakes

    Plitvice Lakes - Plitvice Lakes has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979. It is also Croatia's most famous National Park since 1949. The main attraction of this National Park, unique in the world, comprises 16 small lakes mutually joined by waterfalls created by a special type of limestone. The area is rich in flora and fauna, including European brown bear, wolf, wild cat and eagle.

There are records of 126 species of birds, of which 70 breed in the area. There is 75% forest which covers the Park. One area of forest has never been cut and contains trees up to 700 years old.

Central Croatia has a semi-highland and highland climate with average temperatures ranging from about 0 to -15°C in January to about 21-30°C in August.
Istria
The climate in Istria is Mediterranean with average air temperature of 6°C in January to about 25°C in August.
Kvarner
Kvarner is an combination of shores, islands and highlands and has a mild Mediterranean climate with average temperatures ranging from 6-18°C in January to 24-30°C in August.
Dalmatia
The Dalmatia Coast enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate with average temperatures ranging from about 9-18°C in January to about 24-38°C in August.
